Meniscus Repair and Removal

The surgical removal or repair of either of two C-shaped bands of cartilage in a joint, most commonly the knee (knee meniscus). The meniscus forms a buffer between leg bones (the tibia, fibula, and femur); serves as a shock absorber; assists in lubrication of the joint; and limits the joint's flexion, extension, and rotation.

Many meniscal injuries are sports-related.
